Magnetic atoms rise to become a novel platform of quantum simulation due to their long-range,

anisotropic dipole-dipole interaction (DDI), which offers an additional control knob to the short-

range, isotropic contact interaction. Especially in two-dimensional systems, how the Berezinskii-

Kosterlitz-Thouless(BKT) transition from thermal gas to superfluid can be affected by DDI remains

unclear. Here we report a versatile platform that traps the dipolar Bose gas with a uniform 2D

potential using a spatial light modulator. Realizing a homogeneous in-situ density facilitates char-

acterizing the effect of DDI during the BKT transition, which complements the recent observation

of BKT superfluid in a dipolar Bose gas trapped in a harmonic potential. Our work opens the door

to exotic phases of matter such as dipolar soliton and new types of supersolid.
