The EDM of 171Yb (I = 1/2) is measured with atoms held in an optical dipole trap (ODT). Since Zheng et al. (2022) [1], the E field has been increased to 17.2 kV over an electrode gap of 1 mm, and noise due to the fluctuation of ODT polarization has been reduced. The EDM sensitivity is improved to E-27 e-cm. To quantify the systematic effect induced by parity mixing, both the E field and the ODT laser intensity are calibrated through Stark shifts. Under development is a scheme to simultaneously measure EDM in two ODTs traveling in opposite directions, which would improve statistics as well as suppress the parity-mixing systematic. These trapping and measurement techniques can be transferred to a next-generation EDM measurement of 225Ra.
